**PARADE CANCELED**
The school district was was just contacted by the Morgan County Health Dept. and they have shut down the staff parade that we had planned for tomorrow. They said in review of Governor Pritzker’s Shelter in Place order that our parade would contradict the message that our public health officials are giving us. As a district we want to comply with this order and since our parade is not considered essential travel we will in fact stay home as to set a good example by following the guidance given by the health officials.
Please know our staff was so excited to see all of you, but this is bigger than our personal desires. We want you to be safe and the best thing we can do is stay home. We want everyone in our Franklin community to stay safe and healthy. This too shall pass- we miss you all so much!!

In accordance with the Governor’s announcement yesterday, Franklin School District will now be closed until April 30, 2020.

We are going to put out two announcements tonight, with this being the first announcement. On Friday, March 20th, the Governor extended the school closures in Illinois until April 8, 2020. So, the Franklin School District and all other Districts in Illinois are closed until April 8, 2020. Remote Learning Days will continue for all Franklin students.
At the same time that the Governor made the above announcement, Chicago Schools were told that they were going to be out until April 20th.
Yesterday, President Trump extended social distancing until April 30th. It is our belief that the Governor will extend the school closures until April 20th and beyond.
The next two weeks are expected to have higher numbers of positive test results. Yesterday’s positive test results increased by 1,100 from the day before so, the virus is increasing as expected. If the next two weeks are as large of increases as expected, then you can anticipate that those they have come in contact with will cause another six weeks of closures.
Schools could easily be closed until the last week of May. So, it is highly likely that we will be out for the remainder of the school year.
This will be a decision that only the Governor can make. However, this potential reality needs to be in everyone’s mind. We do not see the school closures as being short lived. Unfortunately, Franklin CUSD 1 and all other schools in Illinois will be closed for the foreseeable future.

Our FFA students will be having a virtual Ag Day on Friday, April 3rd. You will be able to view all they post through the FFA Facebook page. Be sure you like the page so you don’t miss this super fun day! Information is all on the attached flyer!!
The Freshman class color run that was scheduled for May 2nd has been canceled. They will hope to get it scheduled for next school year.
An addition to our message earlier regarding meals for students. Meals provided to students are free of cost.
The Franklin School District is extending the meal service program to any and all Franklin students that would like to receive meals that would cover breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday. So each student would receive breakfast and lunch for each school day. These meals may be provided on a Monday with each student receiving a weeks worth of meals or we may go to a more frequent delivery. This will be decided by the number of students we will be serving. If you want these meals for your children please call the high school office between 8:00 and 11:00 in the morning. Thank you for your patience and understanding through this very difficult time.

PK-8th grade yearbooks are still on sale! Today we tried to send back yearbook and spring pictures paper orders. We are asking everyone to order online from inter-state studios. If for some reason you cannot place an online order you are welcome to mail your form to their office at 3463 Rupp Parkway Decatur, IL 62526.
This company has been great to work with during this time. All orders are due by April 1st.
Even staff who would like a yearbook need to order online.
